I'm a retired school administrator and am working as a Dive Instructor for Blue Wilderness Dive Adventures on the Big Island of Hawaii.  I am joined on the Big Island by my wife Bonnie, my oldest daughter Lauren (Garden Teacher at Hawaii Prep and Owner/Founder of Big Island Blooms https://www.bigislandblooms.com ), son-in-law Greg McKenna (Director of Sustainability at Hawaii Prep), granddaughter Zoe and grandson Avery.  My youngest daughter Erin lives in LA and is an an equine and estate planning attorney https://erinprutowlaw.com/

My passion for diving was enhanced with the Scuba Club in West Palm Beach where I obtained several PADI certifications with Chip Elliott who inspired me to become an instructor.  I've always loved taking underwater pictures and have evolved from a GoPro to a Panasonic GH6 with various lens', lights and ports for my Nauticam housing.

In addition to diving I keep busy as a swim coach & instructor for Mauna Lani Sports and Fitness and have a little Masters swim team which I love to coach. I have been coaching swimming for close to 40 years. I  retired as founder and Head Coach of a USA Swimming team in South Florida after having founded, coach & directed a USA / YMCA swim club in Pennsylvania. At this club we rose to national prominence and  developed swimmers to the highest levels of YMCA and USA Swimming with multiple Junior National, Senior National, Open Water and Olympic Trials qualifiers. I love coaching, which translates well to dive instruction, and have coaching experience in other sports, most notably as a head football coach, where I helped develop players to succeed in all collegiate levels and the NFL.

 

I also am a College Consultant. I have been fortunate in my career to have been recruited to lead several great secondary school college counseling programs. Having cultivated a widely known reputation and a high level of college admissions expertise I am taking a limited  number of clients.
